  • Akanda National Park is an IUCN Critical Site and fulfills the Ramsar criteria as a zone of international importance for migratory birds.

Tourist facilities

  • Akanda Island can only be reached by boat, either by sea or by way of the rivers and creeks of the Mondah bay complex. A small tourist camp exists, and day trips from Libreville are possible.
